SUNSET BEACH, N.C.Lion's Paw Golf Links at Ocean Ridge Plantation is no walk in the park, though it gives you a similar feeling when playing the course.

"It's a pretty serene course," said Kathy Siciliano of Southport, N.C., who was a member of a foursome that reviewed the layout in early August. "You don't have to get up and look at all the trouble before you get on the tee box. And I think the homes and way things are kept up give it a serene feeling."

Leopard's Chase opening pushed back to Feb. 15

The opening of Leopard's Chase has been pushed back a couple weeks to Feb. 15.The delay will allow the construction of a temporary triple-wide trailer clubhouse that will feature porches and a pitched roof.

Tour returns with a much different look

The Grand Strand Pro Golf Tour is returning with significant changes to its events and likely the nature of its fields.
The tour will kick off its second season with a 20-player tournament Wednesday at Burning Ridge Golf Club, and will be expanding tournaments from mostly one-day events in 2006 to two and three days this year.

Cheap fares to Myrtle Beach coming as airlines fill the void

As 2005 came to an end, the Myrtle Beach tourism industry was reeling from the news that Hooters Air was going to cease being a major carrier for the Grand Strand area. The restaurant-born airline canceled Myrtle Beach flights from Las Vegas and five other mostly northeastern cities.But as 2006 ends it's a different story, with carriers adding direct flights to Myrtle Beach.
Southern Skyways will fly in from Charleston, W.Va., twice a week from March 2 to Labor Day, taking advantage of the Strand's prime season, with prices starting at $99 each way. The lowest round-trip fares at the time of the announcement were $369, according to the Charleston Daily Mail.
