Myrtle Beach area not alone in course closures |

The Myrtle Beach area led the nation in the trend of golf course closures last year, but it was not alone.
According to the National Golf Foundation, there was negative net growth in golf facilities in 2006 for the first time in 60 years, as the number of courses that closed (146 18-hole equivalent courses) was greater than the number of openings (119.5). |

SUNSET BEACH, N.C.Lion's Paw Golf Links at Ocean Ridge Plantation is no walk in the park, though it gives you a similar feeling when playing the course.
"It's a pretty serene course," said Kathy Siciliano of Southport, N.C., who was a member of a foursome that reviewed the layout in early August. "You don't have to get up and look at all the trouble before you get on the tee box. And I think the homes and way things are kept up give it a serene feeling." |

Leopard's Chase opening pushed back to Feb. 15 |

The opening of Leopard's Chase has been pushed back a couple weeks to Feb. 15.The delay will allow the construction of a temporary triple-wide trailer clubhouse that will feature porches and a pitched roof. |
